About Indigenous health
Many Indigenous Australians experience poorer health than other Australians to have mental health problems and chronic diseases such as respiratory diseases, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, trachoma and rheumatic heart disease.
Closing the Gap (CTG)
Improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a national priority. Closing the gap gives better access to Medicare and Medicine, extra free immunisations, coordinated care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with chronic conditions and helps to reduce the high rate of smoking.
Our doctors provide primary health care for maternal and child health, arrange and manage support for people with chronic diseases, offer CTG for eligible individuals, and conduct regular health checks and immunisations.
Circumcision
Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin from the penis. In the most common procedure, the foreskin is opened, adhesions are removed, and the foreskin is separated from the glans. After that, a circumcision device may be placed, and then the foreskin is cut off. Topical and locally injected anesthesia is used to reduce pain and physiologic stress. Anytime between 2 weeks and 12 weeks of age is the best time for Plastibell methods.
Telehealth Services
We offer telephone consultations to all of our existing patients.
The process of booking a telephone consultation is simple and operates in the same manner as making a standard face to face appointment. When making an appointment online simply select the appointment type ‘phone consultation’ rather than the reason for the appointment. Alternatively, you can call reception on (07) 5611 3030 for bookings. Please note, your GP will do their best to contact you at the scheduled time however unexpected delays may occur.
Both referrals and imaging requests can be faxed to your email or healthcare provider post-appointment. However, scripts issued during a telephone consult will need to be picked up either at reception OR at the pharmacy downstairs according to your preference. Please be advised that S8 medication repeats will not be feasible via telephone consults; a face-to-face will be required.
To help us in our efforts to minimise the risk of COVID-19, we encourage patients to use telephone consultations as an alternative to face-to-face consults where possible.
